Two Mexican industrial designers, Luis Fernando Barrios and Daniel Lopez Velasco teamed up to work on a more sustainable solution for single use COVID test kits. With “Gelassette” they created a cellulose-based testing kit made from gelatine, which grants a soil biodegradability in less than 4 weeks and water-dispersible in less than 3 hours. Considering the fact that with every COVID test kit about 10g of single use plastic will be used, a biodegradable solution makes total sense.
