London-based FlexSEA is a sustainable packaging company that aims to replace conventional petroleum plastic films with an innovative natural material derived from seaweed and other natural, sustainably sourced additives. FlexSea is home compostable and naturally degrades in both the ocean and soil, without the need for specialized industrial composting facilities and without leaving harmful traces. With FlexSeable, the company has created a novel seaweed-derived biopolymer that replaces plastic film packaging, can be processed on standard industrial equipment such as printing lines, sealing machines and vertical/horizontal fold-fill-seal equipment, and degrades within weeks.
